I wrote this song about Japan after getting to visit/stay there for 3 months, and I absolutely fell in love with the beauty of my surroundings, the people and culture, and the energy there. My trip there literally changed my life in more ways than one, and though this song focuses more on my personal changes, it was the place where it happened that I will always cherish deeply, and so I dedicate this song to this beautiful land and beautiful culture which inspired it, especially now in this tremendously heartbreaking time.

lyrics

Japan 29, 29 years I have lived
always towin' the line, never knowin' my own mind
Japan 29, take me to a place where I can find my joy and peace of mind, cause I must have left them behind
It's like working all day and never opening my window
and then going straight home to bed without using a pillow

Japan 29, 29 years on this earth, never knew love was mine
'til I stopped looking outside to find it
but I always had faith I would
And now I thank my lucky stars that I was shown the way and it's a damn good day to be so far away
thank you lord!

When I got here I was dejected, I was real run-down
but then a miracle happened and now my feet are on solid ground

La la la la lala la

Japan 29, 29 years I have lived always towin' the line
never knowin' my own mind
Japan 29, take me to a place where I can find my joy and peace of mind, cause I must have left them behind
I left a piece of myself back in Chicago
but it was sick and tired and cynical and I sure don't miss it much at all and I hope it never finds me again
Amen.
Amen.
Amen.
AMEN!
